Candle essentials - FAQ & Help

  • Candle Essentials is our everyday candle collection, designed for real life, real budgets, and real fragrance lovers. These value candles offer dependable performance, clean fragrance, and simple style at a price that makes sense.

Our products can be sensitive to extreme cold and heat so it is best to store them between 50ºF and 85ºF. Extended periods of heat can cause melting while extreme cold may cause separation or even cracking. After long exposure to cold temperatures, allow the candle to return to room temperature for at least 2 hours before burning.

  • The answer to this question is a bit tricky, and in the end, it depends on how both on strictly you interpret the word "Vegan" and your comfort level with very minute levels of animal byproducts in your scented candles.

While our candles are primarily composed of vegan paraffin and soy waxes, some of our fragrances may include chemical compounds with molecular levels of ingredients that may be derived from animal byproducts.

An excellent example of this would be honey. While our collection has some fragrances that feature honey as a fragrance note, the honey portion of those fragrances is generally predominately synthetic. However, in some cases, a tiny part of the fragrance formula may also be derived from actual honey.

  • Nope! None of our candles include lead wicks - In fact, metal wicks have been banned in the United States for decades. All of our wicks (which are made in the USA) are metal-free. Depending on the candle collection and application, our wicks are made with cotton, cotton with a paper core, or cotton and paper woven together.

  • Because of the unique thermal requirements for glass candle containers, the chemical composition of our glassware is generally different from that of food and beverage containers like pickle jars or wine bottles. Because of these variances, some glass recyclers will not accept candle containers - you'll need to check with your local facility to determine their policies on candle jars.

  • Because we are committed to producing the highest quality scented candles, we use glass jars developed explicitly for use in candle applications. The glass has a different chemical composition than household glassware and may include paints and other colorants.

Because of this, our glass jars should not be used in food or beverage applications - you should not drink, eat, or store food in them.

That said, once empty, our jars are versatile and can be upcycled into many useful items around the home or office. Here are some creative ideas:

    1. Storage Containers: They can store small items such as office supplies, jewelry, or sewing kits. The clear glass makes it easy to see the contents and can be easily labeled for organization.

    2. Planters: Small plants or succulents can be planted in them. The transparency of the glass makes for a modern and chic look, especially if you add decorative stones or pebbles.

    3. DIY Décor: You can fill them with string lights, pebbles, or sand to create decorative pieces for shelves or tables.

    4. Bathroom Organizers: They are great for holding cotton balls, q-tips, or makeup brushes, keeping your vanity neat and stylish.

    5. Candle Making: Naturally, they can be reused for homemade candle making, giving a sustainable cycle to your candle enjoyment.
